Mr. John Epperly, General Manager
As General Manager, John Epperly is the responsible corporate officer for Innovative Concepts. He is responsible for ICI’s profit and loss as well as company growth. He is further responsible for meeting all company goals and objectives, and for leading the entire ICI staff.

John Epperly joined Innovative Concepts in November 2003 as the Vice President of Programs. In this role, John oversaw all program and project management at Innovative Concepts, including programmatic profit and loss. He also led production operations for all hardware products such as IDM, UIDM® and PCIDM®. He was responsible for customer relationship management serving as the liaison to our existing customer base. He was later promoted to Vice President of Operations, where he took on responsibility for all engineering efforts combined with program management and the corporate profit and loss.

John brings to Innovative Concepts over sixteen years of telecommunications and military experience in project and financial management, developing and improving implementation workflow, customer relationship management, and developing and managing business metrics.

Prior to Innovative Concepts, John led a geographically dispersed 180-person team at MCI Telecommunications providing post-installation support for large commercial accounts to include: network optimization and hardening; performance reporting and operational results; network trouble management and resolution of IP, frame relay, ATM, and voice issues.

John’s numerous years of active military experience as a U.S. Army Armor and Cavalry officer continues in the Virginia Army National Guard. Currently, John is a Lieutenant Colonel serving as  the Division Operations Officer or G3 for the 29th Infantry Division.  He recently returned from a one year combat tour in Iraq and Kuwait as the battalion commander for 3-116 Infantry, a light infantry battalion based in Northern Virginia.

John received a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering and International Relations from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Drexel University in Philadelphia. John is also a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College.   He is currently attending the U.S. Army War College.

Mr. Dan Conner, Vice President, Sales and Marketing
As Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Innovative Concepts, Dan is responsible for creating and executing the sales strategy. He leads a team of marketing and sales professionals dedicated to capturing work across all product lines in the commercial and defense markets. From his service in the U.S. Army in both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom Dan brings first hand knowledge of military communications.

Dan joined Innovative Concepts in 2003 as the International Program Manager where he attained his PMP certification. With his success in capturing multiple international programs, he joined the business development team and became the Account Manager for the Asia Pacific region. Because of strong leadership skills he was tasked to also manage the relationship with ICI’s largest customer, the U.S. Army.

Prior to working at Innovative Concepts, Dan worked as a Project Manager for several defense, information technology and high tech companies. He has more than a decade of experience providing services and product sales to the international defense community.

Dan received his Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Virginia and a Masters in Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Virginia.

Dr. Richard Griffin, Senior Product Director, Airborne Mission Systems and Services
Since joining ICI in 1999, Dr. Griffin has held increasingly responsible positions, developing various software and hardware systems including the Improved Data Modem, heading the Systems Engineering group, and now leading the Airborne Mission Systems and Services team.
He has more than 15 years experience in the design and development of signal processing and communications systems with specialized experience in developing reliable and reusable software.

He began his professional career as a Research Physicist at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory developing various systems including optical computers, laser-generated shock wave systems to study the dynamic properties of explosives, and pattern recognition systems for anti-submarine warfare. He then moved to the private industry making various contributions on optical systems for industrial applications, and lower-cost flight simulators and trainers for the F/A-18 Super Hornet.

Dr. Griffin received his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Baylor University. He continued his education at Purdue University where he received his Master of Science and Ph.D. in Physics.

Mr. Rich Barrett, Director, Mobile Network Systems
As Director of Mobile Network Systems, Rich is responsible for the PCIDM product line and related areas, which include Weapon Data Links and MIL-STD-188-220. With more than fifteen years of experience in the design and development of real-time embedded communications systems, Rich brings a wealth of technical and management experience to this position, including detailed knowledge of MIL-STD-188-220, MIL-STD-2045-47001, VMF (MIL-STD-6017), MIL-STD-188-184, AFAPD, TACFIRE, MTS, and IDL.

Rich joined Innovative Concepts in 1991 as a software engineer and worked on embedded software engineering projects. Over the course of his career, he has served as program manager or project engineer on various programs and led an integrated product team in developing the PCIDM. In 2003, he was promoted to the Director of Software Engineering, and was responsible for over 50 software engineers. He is currently the Director of Mobile Network Systems, focused on the PCIDM product line, including the UIDM V2.

Rich received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.

Mr. Charlie Woloszynski, Senior Director, Advanced Network Systems
As Senior Director of Advanced Network Systems, Charlie is responsible for the Mobiquiti® product line and related areas. These include ad-hoc networking, location management solutions, embedded streaming video solutions, scalable broadband peer-to-peer radios, and embedded hardware platforms. With more than twenty years of experience in the specification, design, and development of real-time embedded data communications systems, Charlie brings a deep knowledge in creating scalable networking systems from the physical layer through the application layer.

Charlie joined Innovative Concepts in 2004 as a systems engineer and worked on various low-data-rate military communications programs, specifically the IDM program, and quickly became the lead systems engineer for these programs. In parallel, Charlie took over responsibility for a small R&D program related to military ad-hoc networks, leveraging his past experience at Telcordia in their Applied Research Division. Charlie leveraged the output of this R&D program to create the basis for a new product line, Mobiquiti, and was promoted to Senior Director to lead this activity.

Charlie and his team have applied Mobiquiti technology to provide networking for Navy sea-based sensor platforms, networking solutions for DHS first-responder solutions to track personnel within buildings, and to network EOD robots to support range-extension and cooperative robotic behaviors.

Charlie received his Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University and his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Mr. Greg Smith, Chief Engineer
As Chief Engineer, Greg focuses on the systems analysis and architecture design for communications and signal processing systems. Since joining Innovative Concepts in 1987, he has been a principal contributor to numerous key development efforts and system studies including the Improved Data Modem (IDM) and software defined radio system design and waveform development for the JTRS and JCIT.

Greg is a recognized expert in the application of military tactical net radios for data communications and is a contributor to several military and commercial working groups.

Greg received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering form SUNY Buffalo and his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
